Element Materials Technology NDT Ultrasonic Inspector in Piedmont, South Carolina
Element has an opportunity for Certified Level I & Level II Ultrasonic Inspectors to perform nondestructive ultrasonic examinations on various metal materials, forge products and composites. Operate automated immersion scanning equipment to check materials or product requirements against standards, procedures and customer specifications.
Safely set up and operate immersion and contact ultrasonic equipment for inspection of machined and detail parts, assemblies, weldments and materials
Follow established manuals, procedures and standards and/or develop techniques when standards are not specified
Prepare materials, parts and assemblies for inspection. Improvise and adapt equipment
Monitor equipment and make adjustments during inspection to compensate for non-relevant ultrasonic signals
Adjust instrumentation during processing to optimize inspection
Interpret readings on oscilloscope screens or ultrasonic recordings of machined parts, diffusion bonded parts, assemblies and weldments
Analyze and interpret indications of flaws and defects, from normal discontinuities or interference
Detect and identify all flaws and defects including size and shape, mark location of defects on material, parts and assemblies and determine acceptability
Accept or reject items in compliance with customer specifications or other requirements
Perform tasks to the extent certified and qualified

To perform this position successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily and pass written and practical examinations
